Martin-Baker Aircraft Company Ltd is the world's longest established and most experienced manufacturer of ejection seats and related equipment to safeguard the aviator through the escape, survival, location and recovery phases.

With headquarters at its original site in Denham Buckinghamshire, locations in France, Italy and United States and representative all over the world, Martin-Baker has established an extensive range of unique and modern facilities and specialist engineering capabilities to support ejection seat work .

"Martin-Baker implemented SAP R/3 to replace an ageing best-of-breed ERP solution in our Aircrew Safety Systems business. We implemented modules including Sales and Distribution, Finance, Costing, Materials Management, Production Planning and Control. An important aspect of the project was to migrate data from the existing systems into SAP R/3 using the LSMW tools provided by SAP.

We engaged Proceed to provide education, training, development and ongoing consultancy on data migration, culminating in fifty or so individual data transfer routines. By developing electronic loads for the vast majority of our data we were able to repeatedly simulate go-live activities and test the solution more quickly and thoroughly than if the data loads were manual. In addition we concentrated valuable resource on other key transformation issues rather than manual data entry.

Our cut-over from the legacy systems to full production on SAP R/3 took under a week ensuring normal business continuity for Martin-Baker, a number one priority for our many customers. Proceed's expertise was vital in ensuring that data migration was a sucess, providing in-depth knowledge and regular guidance to support our fledgling in-house skills.
